Citizenergy featured platform was in the spotlight early this September as CNN did a piece on Portugal running entirely on renewables for four and a half days in May 2016. The cooperative, which focusses its work mostly on solar energy and has just installed its seventh PV facility, has seen dramatic public support in financing its projects on Portugal's South coast - the last project, also featured on Citizenergy, was financed just four hours.

The piece cites the cooperative as one the exciting new players in Portugal's green energy infrastructure. In the words of board member Susana Fonseca, "Coopérnico is not only about producing renewable energy. People are investing in something they consider sustainable. It's the opposite to putting your money in the bank and never knowing what they are doing with it. So here, people know where their money is going."
