Crowdfundres, Citizenergy's partner project, has just released comprehensive survey results on crowdfunding in the EU. They conclude that crowdfunding generally is on the rise in the EU, with platforms almost all Member States. Crowdfunding for renewables has a large potential to "match interested private direct investors with renewable energy project developers", especially in the face of cuts to incentives and subsidies. They find that people considering participation in crowdfunding schemes for renewable energy projects are often driven by a "desire to invest their wealth in a socially responsible manner", while "the model of investment, expected rate of return, technology type and stage of project development" also proved key in investment decisions.
