The project concerns a water disinfection site as a substitute for thermal disinfection. The water disinfection site and 60 metering stations will supply 60 end-users with clean water as well as water disinfectants in Budapest. Most end users are schools, hospitals, kindergartens and nursing homes. Background of the project is a Hungarian law which enhances the protection against legionella as of January 2017. The common method to kill legionella is to heat water in the pipeline over 70 °C. This method is not very effective as after the killing of the legionella new germs are formed rapidly and re-germination can occur. In addition, the heating of the water is highly energy- and CO2-intensive. The so-called REDO® process is economically and ecologically more sensible and more efficient in disinfection. The REDO® technology has already proven itself in more than 30 countries (in addition to Germany, especially in Asia, South America, the Middle East and Africa) and has already been installed in approximately 700 plants since the company was founded in 2002. bettervest is the world’s first crowd investing platform to realise energy-efficiency and renewable energy projects in small and medium size enterprises, non-governmental organisations and local authorities which are registered in Germany or Italy (soon Nigeria to come). Each project is analyzed by an independent energy consultant. Small investments (50-10.000 Euros) from a large group of crowd investors are collected on an escrow account until the investment volume of the project is reached and the energy- measures can be realized.
