Providing health facilities with electricity Due to the lack of electricity in health facilities and inadequate education, most of the health workers in Sub-Sahara Africa fails to provide their patients with qualified care. For people living in rural communities it can be almost impossible to get healthcare when needed. Now there are new innovations available to improve the situation. By using mobile applications specialised in healthcare, the health workers are being guided to give accurate diagnoses and treatment to their patients. This technology is saving lives – but is completely dependent on reliable electricity. Our solar partner Strategic Energy are providing solar products to healthcare workers as well as households around Tanzania. Affordable electricity for low-income households Strategic Energy are seeking a loan of €36,500 to purchase 4,320 solar lanterns, which will be distributed on Zanzibar and throughout mainland Tanzania. The kind of solar lanterns in this project are called pico solar systems. They are smaller and cheaper than traditional solar system, and seen as entry-level solar products for people who might not yet afford a larger system. Two types of solar lanterns will be distributed; a portable solar lamp (Little Sun Original) and one combined solar lamp/phone charger (Little Sun Charger): Little Sun Original Lamp 60 x 60 mm monocrystalline solar panel Provides 4 hours of light Little Sun Charger Phone charger Lamp 2.5 W solar panel Provides 14 hours of light Your investment will be a part of the loan to Strategic Energy and enable access to electricity for 8,554 people. This project has an an expected return of 5.4% on declining balance, under the condition that the loan is fully repaid by Strategic Energy. Repayment of investment This project has a planned payback time of 15 months. After the project has been fully funded and Strategic Energy has received the loan their first repayment is in 9 months after which you will be repaid on an ongoing basis. This is under the condition that Strategic Energy manages to repay their loan. The investment is based on a legally binding contract that is called a loan note instrument. As a proof of your investment, loan notes will be dedicated to you corresponding to the size of your investment. Potential repayments can be used by you to re-invest or be cashed out from your TRINE account. Contract and loan note certificate will be available to download from your Dashboard.
